Purchase Local Art Work
The Downunder Tours 'Red Bus' from Cairns to Alice Springs stops over in Harts Range twice a week. Tourists can purchase tea, coffee and refreshments and also purchase artwork from local artists.

The 'Red Shed' arts centre is both the gallery and work space so visitors may be able to observe artists at work.

Prices for local artwork are higher in Alice Springs so it is worth visiting the community to see the beautiful country where we live, meet the artists and purchase artwork.

Gem Fields and Fossicking
Harts Range is in the centre of the Central Australian Gem Fields and you may choose to stay in the Spotted Tiger Camp Ground for a few days of fossicking.

About the Community
Atitjere community plays an important role as a centre for ceremonial functions in the Sandover area, drawing people from Tobermorey, Ammaroo and Lake Nash. Ties with people from Santa Teresa, Amoonguna and Alice Springs camps result in large increases in their population during ceremonial occasions. There are alcohol restrictions in force hence this is considered a ‘Dry Community’.

Getting to Atitjere
The Plenty Highway runs straight past the community and is sealed and in good condition for the first 150km from Alice Springs on the Stuart and Plenty Highways. The remaining 65kms to Atitjere is gravel with sealed causeways.

The gravel road is generally in good condition and is maintained by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment.

Main access to the community is 1.2km of good gravel road from the Plenty Highway.
